Waiting

Chicago_Child_Photographer

As a mom of two littles, 21 (give or take) months apart I always found myself waiting.

Waiting for the next stage…waiting for the next moments that would grant me greater independence from the self imposed prison of motherhood.  Waiting to be able to go out without car seat havoc, buckling and unbuckling, eventually the littles gaining independence and able to click in and click out of the seats on their own.  Then waiting for the few hours of reprieve that preschool, kindergarten then all day school would bring.  Then waiting for this stage of ridiculous sullenness and moodiness to pass.  Then waiting for the expenses of club sports to end.  Then waiting for the independence that comes with driving…but not looking forward to this last one because it’s one step further.  Further away from pigtails, teddy bears, dress up clothes, the magic of a childhood lived.  Now waiting as the summer of my life starts winding down as my littles are growing up into young ladies.  Waiting…but enjoying who these young ladies are and while I wait, I do so in gratitude.  Grateful they are healthy, grateful they are beautiful, grateful for their abilities and their smarts and grateful they are mine.  Blessed.
